Born in sunny Greece - the country that inspired the minds of great composers like Theodorakis and Hatzidakis; being half Polish with a Masters degree in Composition obtained in the home country of film icons such as Polanski or Wajda and bearing in her soul the national identity of prodigious composers like Chopin and Paderewski; currently working in London - the European capital of film industry - Natali Drosou combines in her works a variety of elements that allow her to be recognized as a truly versatile and unique composer.
She has worked with such names as the Oscar winning composer Jan A.P. Kaczmarek (Finding Neverland; Unfaithful) or Zbigniew Preisner (Three Colours: Blue, White, Red; The Double Life of Véronique) and continues to expand her musical horizons by engaging in various projects in the ever vibrant London. One of them, Frame of Mind, has been shortlisted for the Marbella International Film Festival 2010 and The Feeding was screened as part of the Short Film Corner, at the Cannes Film Festival 2011. She recently won the 2nd Prize of the Transatlantyk Film Music Competition and was selected to take part at A Sunday in the Country, Composers and Directors meeting, held at the Rozbitek Institute in Poland this year, organised by the European Film Academy.
Natali's music can be subtle, mystical or melancholic, but also joyful in its simplicity, uplifting and inspiring. Yet there is always this common element - one cannot help imagining a story behind it. In fact, the music somehow invites the pictures to appear in front of the eyes of the listener, taking us on a journey through the endless world of our own imagination.
Hear it, and see, for yourself...
